Re: Shimano TR2000LD
******,
I have a couple and really like them. I have 80 lb. power pro on them and use them for shallow water bottom fishing and for oversized sturgeon.
By shallow water I mean less than 300 feet deep. Anything deeper than that I use my Daiwa 50H.
We fish a lot of real rocky spots in the 60 to 120 foot range. I really like the lever drag on the Shimano so you can give it a little extra if you want to keep those big ling cod out of the rocks.

I have several TR100 and TR200 reels. They are great reels especially in salt water. The drags work great. The only thing I have had to do to the reels after 5 years of use is to grease the drags. They are not the same reels that you are considering but they are made Shimano and the TR reels are very good in my opinion.

******,
Buy a couple of the Shimano Tekotas. You will fall in love with them.

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
Rick,
It freespools and casts heavier weights (3 to 24 oz.) like for sturgeon just fine. I probably wouldn't use it to cast anything less than 2-3 ounces.

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
Thanks Rich. Exactly. Looking to use it for sturgeon. Appreciate it. My 310's and 320's are great, but worn out. Will have them rebuilt this year.

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
Rick,
I have 2 and they are very good reels. Will function very close to the 320's...I have 3 of those also.

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
Hey Rick,
I would not steer you wrong on those reels I mentioned. Definetly worth the investment. They would really be of help during the sturgie challenge. Cold? Minnesotans do not get cold!

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
******,
These are great reels. Keep one thing in mind though. If using in saltwater please, please get the reels serviced once a year or get some anti-corrosive lubricant for the bearings. The bearings in this reel are prone to freezing up. I suggest using corrosion-x to keep the bearings up to par. Other than that, they are great reels.

Re: Shimano TR2000LD
Thanks you guys. Does the 2000 freespool and cast OK?
