Default Prawn Spinner rigging question

Ok, since I can't be on the river today catching real fish, I'm going to ask you pros about prawn spinners.

Last year I was a little in the dark about how you actually rig your prawn up to the spinner. I ended up putting a toothpick through it and wrapped it up with stretchy thread so it stayed straight with the hooks at the bottom. How do you get those buggers rigged up right?

On the illustration it showed the prawn just spinning around behind the spinner in a C shape. That didn't look right to me but what do I know about these springers anyway

Just thought I would throw the question out before the "Mad Springer" disease shows her ugly face and everone starts to get the first symptom, lock jaw

I know its a little unorthodox, but I was taught an interesting way where the prawn it head up and the tail is bent at about a 90 degree and causing it to slowly spin. It crushes springers and summer steelhead in june on anchor with a spinning glow, but It work well trolling with a blaed too.

The spin-glo works well in the Salem area.

Blades everywhere else in the Willamette. I use the head down, tied on with yarn (same color as the prawn) and get a killer spin. Its deadly. Special prawn cure and it works well. Yarn holds any scent I use with it.

I'm really going to focus some effort this year on the Anchovy Spinner... we used these with AWESOME success down at the Rogue last year... I dont see why a springer wouldnt want to munch on one

Nope, we're handling requests in real time here, and I don't have a prawn sitting here on the desk.

Gotta love digital cameras.

Ross, that is a standard size 4 or 5 (not sure) G-spot blade, I'm guessing that the hole has something to do with sound and vibration just like you guessed. The reality is I buy them because they are different  ...ie: the hole is to catch me as well as fish..I do like the G-spot blades, I have taken several Springers with the blade pictured ...W.A.

I like to get some spinner shafts and thread the line through the eye of the shaft. Then, when you are baiting up, put the hooks into the prawn however you want, then run the shaft through the body of the prawn. Holds it nice and straight.

If this isn't clear, let me know, and I'll post a pic. I'm just sitting here rebuilding the wife's PC...

Here you go...

This approach lets you put the hooks anywhere in the prawn that you want, yet have the prawn hang any way you want.

Good luck. And if ****** says differently, well, you listen to him. I just play a fisherman on TV, on the public access channels.

I should add, you put the spinner shaft into the vent in the center of the tail, and run it along the back. I like the prawn to hang straight, not spin. Head downstream, tail back to the blade of the spinner.
