Default E-Glass Rods and Other Question

I'm thinking about buying a couple E-Glass (Cabelas) rods for running plugs and diver/bait.

They have a 7' M/H casting and and 8' M/H backtrolling rod. The problem with the 8' rod is that it has foam (EVA) grips. The 7' has cork grips but the handle is short, like a bass casting rod.

For those that have these, and use them for the uses mentioned above, can you recommend the 7' or 8' rod?

Another question for I-Fishers. Do you know the name of the tackle/bait shop at the put in at MP 7 on the Kalama. The name slips my mind. The phone number would be great if you had it.

Thanks -

I've tried short handled rods in the past and my recomendation is to stay away from them. Fine for the bass guys (which what you are looking at is probably a glass crankin rod) but steelhead and slamon put a ton of torque on your wrists fighting fish.
Goog luck with whichever you go with.

Fish Hound,
I primarily fish diver and bait or plugs for spring chinook/steelhead from my driftboat. I have found a series of what I calll boat rods that I'm buying for just this purpose that have been working beautifully for me and not breaking the bank. They are Shakespeare Intrepid Titanium IM-7 Graghite's, 8"-6", 10-30lb heavy (other weights available). Fisherman's has them on sale rigth now for $34.99 (regularly $49.99). I take allot of people fishing with me that have never been, so if one gets broke it doesn't hurt to bad. I have had nothing but good quality from these rods and have never had to take one back due to workmanship. Check them out and see what you think.
