Look at this link of the Nestucca, it's almost up to 4500 CFS. Yikes!

Nestucca River Level

And the forcast is to keep going up until Tuesday, when it is forcasted to start dropping. It looks like it will be several days to drop into fishing conditions, hopefully by next weekend.

Drop water drop! Let us catch fishies next weekend! I've got plans to scrape some sea lice.

All Wet,

For floating I like the levels to be between 4.3 and 6.5 feet. Read that as 5-5.5 being perfect.

Fished 3 Rivers on Sunday, what a zoo. LOTS of people and a fair number of fish caught. I'd say I probably saw 15-20 fish hooked in the 5 hours I was there. Unfortunately I apparently sucked yesterday as the only fish I hooked came off after a couple of headshakes.

All the usual stuff seemed to be working though most folks that were hooking up were using 3+ foot leaders. The water had some color to it so I don't see much of a line shy factor but

If you go, wear a hard hat and goggles. I only got nailed once but I was trying as best I could to be off by myself. Good luck.

That place is a nightmare! Why would anyone want to fight for only 3 feet of real estate? This is a meat hole, not a relaxing fishing trip.

I would have to agree on the fact that this little river gets a good run of fish. I guess once you get away from the hatchery hole, things do calm down quite a bit.

I'll stay down low.

It was really a zoo today. Not many hooked, and about 4 or 5 dozen people, what a joke.

Saw Billy Bob there. His cousins by the dozens were there too. They were asking for Carrot Chaw.

Meat hole?
I enjoy fishing 3 Rivers and in no way consider it a "meat" hole. It is very crowded at times, most of the people that fish it are friendly. Lines get tangled and we work it out, no biggie. It is also a very challenging place to fish because of the crowded conditions and I suppose a person either loves it or hates it. It is seemingly getting the rep that the salmon river has been labeled with which I don't think at least for the last 4 years that I have occasionally fished the salmon it deserves.
It appears that a lot of you have never fished 3 Rivers or have had a bad experience there. You might have 30 people fishing and 4-6 of them doing the catching so if you want to label that as a "meat" hole go ahead. If a fisher person doesn't like the crowds or the pressure or the challenge of places like 3 rivers simply don't fish there. It isn't justified to place a label on great place like this just because you do not enjoy this style off fishing. 3 rivers is used exactly IMHO as it is intended, to give fishermen and women a chance at catching hatchery fish. I would rather see this than for the hatchery workers to have to re-run these fish to death.
