First post.
I have been lurking around long enough and decided to sidn up. As per regusted I will tell a fish tail.
Last memorial weekend we were staying down at the Astoria KOA. We had a excellent day on Saturday putting six keepers in the boat from 44" to two nice fat 54"s. While waiting for our fish to be cleaned at Sturgeon Pauls on of my fishing buddys comes in with a nice limit of salmon. We get to talking and we decide we will follow hi, out the next morning. The women decided to stay in bed so that left myself, my son and my friend James. Once we got out we set the first line out and before I could get it in the rod holder it was slammed. Score one nice chinook. While letting the same rod out bang! Number two. This went on for 45 minutes to one hour before we were able to get the second and third rods out. We only fished for a hour and a half and had six nice chinook.
I realy can't pick my favorite fish because steelhead and keeper sturgeon are a dead heat. Most of all I enjoy seeing people catch fish especialy the kids. My five year old Hunter, has landed on his own a steelhead, several coho, a few chinook and three keeper sturgeon.
As for favorite rivers it sepends on the time of year. Now I like the Kilchis, Wilson, Nestucca and Siletz. Around March through September the columbia is hard to beat and from September its back to the Tillamook area.
To everyone have a merry Christmas and good fishing.
