wilson river getting hot
took the day off and looked at it all. I fished three rivers until 11:00 and hooked 0 and talked to everybody and they had nothing.looked at the kilchis, could have walked across the boats. talked to some guys and they said it was spotty at best.
Stoped at the wilson "mills bridge" to take a look. THe river was high but fishable. I saw 5 caught before i got my rod and was able to land 2. I will be back tommorrow with my DB and GUS . Life jackets are manditory and the bite will be wide open.
good luck boys

Re: wilson river getting hot
Slick,
Go get 'em.
I'm an Ifish newbie, also from Sherwood, been chasing geese lately but plan on getting going on winters as soon as they show. Sounds like they have. I run a 20 1/2' Predator w/ tiller and row a Diamond Back drift boat.
I've only fished the Wilson1 time, Feb, 2 years ago. 3/5. All downers.
I had a buddy of mine from Washington show me the fine points of bobber fishing last year on the "zipperlip". My 12 yr old daughter and I hooked the first 5 on bait and divers, then he put on a clinic and showed me a few tricks. We ended up landing 13/18. EPIC just EPIC. I may share the rest if your drift boat comes equipped with a hip flask of brandy.
I usually hit the Nestucca pretty hard in Feb and March when I get done whackin geese.
Maybe we can trade some trips.

Re: wilson river getting hot
Gee... a whole river "zipperlip", and this one better than most.
You better keep quiet about it, as I'm sure that a zillion people would run right over there tomrrow because you caught some fish a year ago. We wouldnt want that to happen now would we.

Hey grb
sometimes you have to let the birds fly and go for the fishees. I love to wack the birds and my dog never forgets but when the steel is in the river you got to drop the scatter gun and grab the loomis. This week will produce some 20 fish days if all goes right.
Hang in and follow your gut.

Re: wilson river getting hot
I just herd on the news that the are going to open up the flood gates at the new dam on the Wilson Friday night. May not be the place to be this Saturday. Every one planning a trip Saturday better try the clack.

I also heard on the radio that the PETA folks are staging a protest rally from Kansas Creek on down. Between the PETA types and the opened flood gates, I would definitely stay away from the Wilson on Saturday.

Re: wilson river getting hot
Hey Ugly,
Ever had someone take you fishing and say "I'll show you some stuff under the agreement that you not do something like tell everyone on the internet"?
I respect those promises.
If I go find something on my own I'll be happy to share.
Code of the West sort of thing.
Ease up.
Merry Christmas

Some of the BB's I'm on have a "Views" column along with the replies column. Usually about 10 times as many Views as replies. Something to think about.
