Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
Hello
I have put together a very basic web site, mostly for my own use, with some random Alsea and Siletz resources that I have created or gleaned from the web. I find it somewhat useful, as everything is in one place. I thought I might share in case any of you might find it useful as well.
It contains:
River levels and forecasts for the Alsea and Siletz.
Weather for Alsea and Siletz.
17 year historical Alsea Steelhead return, with chart.
Current Steelhead Alsea return (updated manually - help wanted).
Fishing maps of the Alsea and Siletz.
Clickable map with river data for river stations located in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.
If any of you do use this, you can help by emailing me the current hatchery counts (to the email address on the site) if you happen to know them as the season progresses.
Again, this is a basic page that was put together to consolidate data. I am not looking to create a huge or elegant web solution at this time. However, I am open to suggestions for added content and improvements if you have any.

Re: Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
I like it! Alsea was my "fish every day" for winter steelhead home waters when I lived in Corvallis from the early 70's to 1985, just when your fish counts begin. I can't remember the counts from those years, but a bad day was three fish. I still return a couple times each year. Monday will be my first trip this year. Fish will be caught!!

Re: Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
If there is no copyright issues with any of that, like the Fishing and Hunting News maps, I'd like to add a link to this, to my data page.
Could you please write to me?
Thanks!
Jen

Re: Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
Blade, the web page is looking great. If you are interested there is a web page w/ a calculation for the NF Alsea river level. I found it very helpfull last year when I was going to the NF a lot. Here is the link, http://kayak.physics.orst.edu/~tpw/k...gi/Oregon.html

Hey Sportsman_21
That's a really good link too. One of the better ones I've seen for river levels and flow. It reads well - even I understand it.

Re: Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
I'm glad the response has been positive. I hope that some of you will find this useful over time.
I made one change, to address some copyright concerns, and removed the fishing maps themselves from the site. There are now links to the maps in each river area. This also addresses loading the maps from the main page, which can be an issue for those on dialup, and gets the site closer to the dashboard look and feel I am going for.
Thanks!

Re: Alsea & Siletz Web Resource
Pat's river page is a great resource; I have been using it for years. In fact, I had conversations with him about his calculations and scripts a few years ago.
A couple of things to keep in mind though.
1- His site is developed around kayaking, so his river "status" reflects information applicable to that sport.
2- There are river levels on his site that are calculations. For example, the North Fork Alsea level is calculated by multiplying the Tidewater level by 0.194065 and subtracting 9.517.
As with any river level data, use these calculated levels as a guide, but remember they do not take the nature of river into consideration (how fast it raises and falls compared to the collection site, etc.).
Also, if you like Pat's site and fins it useful, send him a message thanking him for it, I'm sure he would appreciate it.
