Default NFN 12-17, pontoon guys???

Just a note to the two guys(if you are on this board) who ran the NFN today in your little pontoon boats(very nicely done BTW). I got a half dozen pix of you going over the drop, E-mail me if you want copies. Nice chromer you nailed, we got one after you left and that was it.

I'd like to see those pics. I love that whitewater stuff. Why don't you want to post them here?

Mad Mikey,
If you get the urge I wouldn't mind seeing those either. A couple buddies and I ran our pontoons from the hatchery to Ericksons two years ago and let me tell you I give those guys who run their driftboats down that some serious respect.

I don't know if their good or crazy?

I was using a cheapie disposable so you'll have to wait til I get em' done and scan them. I promise I will put them up. I was hoping but NOT hoping for a wipe out, good pix but on the other hand I don't want to see someone take a swim there, long ways to go through whitewater(COLD!!!) before a quiet spot.
It looked like the first guy was a pro, he made very few strokes and slid through no problem, the guy behind looked a little nervous and was back oaring frantically before the drop. He was a little further to the right bank than I would have wanted to be but did just fine.
I wonder if they ran the two up above or walked them, the garbage hole falls would be the one that would spook me the most.
Anyhow, I'll get the pix up soon.

cheers,

Mike

When i took my pontoon down Ericksons said the only real nasty one was below the slide. The river goes from being about 30 ft. wide to like 10 or 15ft. and this little shoot has this nice dip right in the middle and then the current pushes you into this jagged rock wall that you have to pull back from to get ready for the next shoot. My buddie went thru this one and the whole back half of his pontoon went under and filled his lap.

It was my first time down and my first time in the pontoon so I chose to walk it thru.

Let me tell yuh if you have never been down the NFN but you have heard people talk about the upper falls below the hatchery. Well that is one of the easier parts to navigate compared to the darkside(the lower river).

It's worth it though because you will probably only see a couple other people the whole day and you will get to fish some good water all by yourself and as long as you want. Now days how often do you get that opportunity?

Later, WW

Are all of the rapids/falls on the NFN walkable? I would be tempted to take my inflateable kayak down if they are all walkable. I will let the boat shoot thru and me and the rods will hold the rope and walk around.
