Did the same thing as you today. Fished in the town for a while, then headed up to the bridge. Fished down around where the land turns private. Did nothing. My buddy and I fished from 12:30-4:30 and didn't have a single hookup. When we were getting ready to leave, a father and son walked up with 3 beautiful steelhead. They said they caught them up closer to the hatchery, and were drifting corkies. Go figure. I've yet to catch a steelhead on the Alsea.

Let me know if you want to hook up sometime and hit it together. It's a little small for my liking, too, but I am still relatively new to winter steelhead fishing.

We didn't get as much rain as predicted - i'll bet most of the coast will fish tomrrow. Could be wrong though. South probably will hold up better than the north.

The Wilson is on the way up and at 5 this evening, it was raining VERY hard in the hills. I wouldn't leave home without checking the levels.

Its raining harder now and the river level is expected to go up to nearly 10 feet over night.

They say look for high winds past midnight and lots of potential rain.

I think it will be blown by am.

Hang onto your hats everybody!!!!!!!!!!

There~she~blows~~

Just checked river level on the Alsea, It's 5' and climbing. The north fork is still fishable at 8.2 (tide water station) if it is falling. Below the forks, it is hard to get a drift after 6', hope that helps a little.
