Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Note the lack of wake!!!!
Just skims across the water. Had I had this one that morning on the Sandy, I WOULD have made it all the way across the island!
PS - This is on step with four people, all the heavy sturgeon gear we brought, three anchors, a full tank (42 gallons) and Maxine the wonderdog aboard. Hardly a ripple!

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
my name is RF and I have owned a Willie for 8 years. It started out simple enough... first an Alumaweld and a few weekend trips, then..... it grew from there and I couldn't stop myself.

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Bought my 17-½ foot Willie Predator in August of 1993 after meeting and talking to Willie the month before. I’ve fished in the Gulf of California at Kino Bay Mexico to the Sacramento River Delta to Neah Bay and most points in between. It’s a great boat to fish and crab from. I’ve taken my motor in for service with it on the boat and had people who saw the boat at the service center call me at home to see if I was interested in selling. I suppose you can tell I really like my Predator.

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
I haven't seen anything excluding non-powered boats, so I assume my Willie qualifies as a Willie. I sure enjoy it! Of course, except last night at 3:30 AM when I heard a familiar metalic thump and looked out my window to find some teenagers sitting in her, having a beer.

Proud owner of a brand new 17 ft. drifter. Traded in a Willie I bought used, and used the hell out of it for 7 years, and got more for it than I paid for it!

Here's our Lil' Willie Sled. We bought it in July from another I-Fish Member. So far it's been a great little boat. Can't wait to get it out on the Clack for Winter Steelies.

Every time i think about "upgrading" my old beat up Willie drifter, I think " What good would come from that?......None". Goes to show, if you buy right the first time, you don't need to buy twice.

Started with 16' Alumaweld in 74 or 75
Went to 18 1/2' North River about 82
20 1/2' Willie came in 92-Love the way it handles rough water!
When I first got it some of friends called it the Canby Ferry because of it's size and room.

Paul, I was really worried about the same thing but was pleasantlly surprised, when I back trolled some quickfish and backbouncers last month, at how well it handled. Didn't feel any bigger than my 16' x 52"

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Yup Grant, I now reside in San Diego. My new job has me here for the next 8 months or so. Fortunate for the fish, but not for me. I am planning on making a couple of trips back up there to fish (my boat is still up there). Nothing like last year's numbers, but with a few vacation days I should still be able to make a small dent in the Siletz broodstock population.

OOPHS...Missed the initial rollcall...But I have a Willie-16ft drifter... the best thing is(not braggin) but I won it @ GI JOES about 10 years ago...I had been to Idaho to bury my dad and just got back when they called & said I won it...It will always be a special boat cause I felt the old man was giving me a message!...Plus, its really the only thing I've ever won!

Have a 20 ft. Predator, 10 years old now. Not too often you buy something and the more you use it the more you like it. The wifey even likes fishing in it, probably because she usually catches fish.

I still owe you for that Clackamas trip. I'm going to be in town Dec. 20-29. If the water levels cooperate, I'll be fishing every day except for X-mas. Drop me an email (new address in profile) if you want to take a break from the sticks and ride up front in my boat.

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Hey Fire In The Hole. What's a Steenson. Sounds like a cowboy hat.
Also, were you referring to my boat when you talked about how clean it was? That picture is not fair. I had just pulled it in from the factory. While I hose my boat out after every trip it is still a work boat and doesn't look near as pretty now. I took those pictures to remember how nice they look new.
While I appreciate a super clean boat I want my boat to look like it catches a few fish. There is nothing that makes me laugh harder than watching a guy spend an hour cleaning his boat after he puts a little fish slime on it while the rest of the crowd is still fishing on the bite.
If you got them, send a picture of a Steenson. I would love to see a new boat design. New to me anyway.

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
OKM,
No not new 1990 but the guy I bought it from took Amazing care of it. That's why I bought it better than new. I love the sales pitch all the boat builders have READY To Fish. Ya right.... I know nothing of STEENSEN except someone told me The builder was a guy up in Wash. Who used to make them but mostly made Sleds. Any hooo I went to look at my boat and Asked the same ????? What's a STEENSEN. But great boat.... I'll spend the big bucks on my next Sled.....and keep this beauty.... Sorry no Pictures...

Yup. If I can figure out how to load a freakin' picture I'll post one! I've got a couple good ones.

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Ok predator owners, if you had to buy another one what would you do different? Tandem trailer, 20.5 vs 19.5, sport jet or outboard. Is the 175 sportjet enough power for a 20.5 x 72" predator? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Re: Willie Boat Owners Rollcall
Definitely a tandem with surge brakes. I got my Predator with and single axle and did the upgrade thing. As for power, I have a 20.5 x 72" with a 175 SJ--more than enough for me. If ever had to buy another one I'd get one with windshield wipers
