Default McNary Steelhead challenge 12/11- 12/12

To all,
The gauntlet has been thrown down by
Ifisher "Fishing Is Life". I took him out
to McNary tonight and he had a once in a
lifetime night. I won't give out the
details but will give you the basics. 16
fish on, 14 landed. James Wu is spoiled
now. Another one comes over to the dark
side. Ok, I gotta tell you. He started out
with a fish on in the first 15 minutes but
it comes unpinned. His next fish is a
37 3/4 inch Hatchery hen. He and I then
hook 10 wild fish along with the second
double of the season. He then lands a 30
inch hatchery hen. So he is done with
steelhead until midnight, but he can angle
for salmon since it is open. Finally I hook
a hatchery fish and James is about to net
it when he ***** off and says "he has never
knocked a fish off before". Well you know
what happened next. See ya fish! Midnight
rolls around and James hooks another wild
fish. That makes 11 natives released!
Things slowed down and I thought our night
was gonna be over. At 0230, James rod goes
off again and I swear he has hooked a
speedboat. This fish was serious! It comes
by the boat and I darn near shiat myself
when I saw how big it was. I have seen a
lot of Steelhead in my day but this fish
shocked me. I finally got the net under it
and I had trouble bringing it onboard. I
layed it on the measuring ruler and butted
the nose against the bent part of the ruler
and squenched the tail together to get a
accurate length and that baby taped out at
41 inches! I say again, 41 inches! It was
the biggest Hatchery fish I have ever seen.
We taped the girth and it was a shade over
20 inches! Holy cow! James had his digital
camera and he will be down loading the
pictures in the next day or so. I have web
tv and cannot download the pictures for
him. I do mine at work. So be patient!

Dude, you are a machine!!! Gotta get up that way someday.

According to my fish calculator, that hatchery fish would weigh around 21 lbs. WOW

You're my hero

Love your posts. But why don't you buy a scale. Measuring fish in inches is fine for little trout, but for big fish lets hear some weights. A long skinny fish isn't the same as a long fat one.

(I'm not suggeting you throw the fish you release on a scale, just the ones you bonk)

For those wondering, a 41" fish with a 20.25" girdth would figure to be almost 22 pounds.

FNF
41 inches!! Wow!!
I check your reports religously, and really admire you. McNary is an hour drive from here and LoMo is 20 minutes. Have you had the same success above LoMo and Ice Harbor? Those fish are no doubt bound for the Clearwater, would like to intercept them a little closer to home. If not, McNary seems to be the spot.

Keep it up!
