SHEESH, what do we have to do with these NEWBIES! They lurk long enough to know the rules! Then when they finally get up the gumption to jump in the water, they can't swim! Come on newbie.......first a STORY and INTRO! Yes, I'm shouting! How many of these newbies do we have to smack before they learn! OK, newbie, a story now..... I think some rule changes are in order.....when they get the email from the admin (Pete?), there ought to be a bold statement - "Attention NEWBIE, if you don't post an into and story right away, we revoke posting rights for a month" Should we get a vote on this???

end of rant.... OK Newbie, welcome aboard!

Skrimmy - If the newbies all followed the story rule, who would get to smack around between fishing challenges?

Ok , now that brought out the dead wood that likes to smack newbies around & show how talented they are about welcoming newbies on with the story.. bty fyi i also looked at previous posts to see who the spouters were lol i see they haven't changed there spots . Well i went to the mouth of santiam river this last saturday. i launch at buena vista park , it was foggy i could barely see to run from boat launch to mouth of santiam.. i went slow finally made it safely , i drop anchor just above the mouth & got out my trusty im6 rod & 5500 royal & baited up with a small piece of roe & handmade roe leader pearl corkie, chartuse & flame yarn & flip it in the santiam & drifted back into the mix of the willamette.. no luck three drifts later hook a nice bright winter steelie & the fight was on , he made 3 nice runs & a couple of leaps.. i had him to the boat a few times & finally releashed him , about 26 inches in length.. it was very cold & foggy ,but after the nice fight of that steelie it really didnt matter , tight lines to all & thanks for the Welcome.. Ps thanks for the insight Minnow

OK, then.

Nice job steelhead1. You don't want to get smacked by these guys too long!

I think one of my most miserable days in the outdoors was doing the same trip you just did with reeldick in my 12' boat. The difference being it was gulley washing the whole day. Soaked right through the Gore Tex and we were cccccccooooooollllllllllddddddddd......

Anyway, good job catching.

To catch fish from a sled in the Clackamas requires water. Critical missing ingredient presently. After we get some. there aren't too many real good sled spots at the mouth. Upstream a ways or out in the Willamette are generally better.

Skrimmy! What the heck are you talkin' about? Another smackdown!? Maybe it should be at the Sandy Trout farm so we all have a good shot of actually backing up the talk!

Steelhead 1,

I got a good chuckle out of your last post. The thing about that spot is the hords that will be clogging that area here shortly, probably don't want it to begin to become 3 boats deep. I haven't seen it in two winters, but I'm certain here shortly you probably can't get a boat into or out of the clack because of the "sheep."

Nice to hear of your successes. Get a scanner and post some of your photo proof.

Shannon

steelhead1,
Welcome aboard. I believe a story is in order. Unwritten rules of the game.

You might also do a search on the topic. I'm sure its been talked about.

Steve
