Knot Help
I recently bought a setup for bobber/jig fishing and have only used it a few times. I had the reel filled with braided line and at the time I had it fiiled the clerk showed me how to knot it. Well I'm not getting any younger and my somtimers memory has plauged me again. I can't remember how to tie this type of line, could somone post a how to for the proper knot to use for braided line.
Thanks

Re: Knot Help
Here's the knot I use for braided and mono. If you use it for mono, leave a longer tag end.
I tie this doubled with braided line. So far, it is rock solid.

Re: Knot Help
go through the eye of the swivel or weight twice with the line then wrap the line 4 or 5 times like normal then put the end under the complete circle loop (the first piece of line you put through the swivel not the second) then pull tight. hope i didn't confuse you.

Re: Knot Help
This is the knot shown on Tuff line packages: Double the line for about a foot. Put the end of the loop through the eye twice. Keep the resulting circle open while you wrap aroung the main line and the tag end of the loop about 7 times. Now put the end of the loop back through the circle, wet, and pull tight using the loop and the double ends.
This knot adds a "dead" piece of line through the knot. Since no tension is on either end of the dead piece the knot cannot pull back through itself.
Braided line is very slick and will pull through a normal knot when presssure is applied.

Re: Knot Help
The knot I've been using is a palomar but go through the eye of the swivel twice before continuing the knot. I usually burn off the end of the tag which leaves a plastic bump at the end of the line. I have yet to have this knot slide out on me, but if it did slide it would hit the bump at the end of the tag and stop.

Re: Knot Help
Open the following link. This is what I always use for attaching Fireline to a swivel. The website shows other knots for other applications (such as attaching 2 line).

Re: Knot Help
The palomar is by far the easiest of the stronger knots to tie:

Re: Knot Help
The Palomar Knot is another very simple knot for terminal tackle. It is regarded by the International Game Fish Association consistently as the strongest knot known. It's great virtue is that it can safely be tied at night with a minimum of practice.
Double about 12.5cm of line, and pass through the eye.
Tie a simple Overhand Knot in the doubled line, letting the hook hang loose. Avoide twisting the lines.
Pull the end of loop down, passing it completely over the hook.
Pull both ends of the line to draw up the knot.

Re: Knot Help
Thanks all,
The knot that Pitch Pocket (like the name, there's got to be a story for that one) showed is the knot that the clerk showed me how to tie. The polomar knot looks like one I could remember easier though. Thanks again.............
