Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
After stinking up Madwizerds boat in the Sturgon Challange, I drove up the gorge to Hood river and spent the night at a friends house and fished Hood River.
Went 1/3 on Saturday and 4/4 on Sunday. Summer Fish were in good condition. We also went way down low and and tried for an early winter, my buddy had heard unconfirmed reports of a couple being caught in the first couple riffles above the Columbia.
We went down to the Pacific Power access and each got one winter. One under the railroad bridge and one at the concrete wall lower down.
Sorry, no fish pics as the digital camera was out of batteries after Saturday, but here is the result as of an hour ago when I got home. Two bucks, (one summer, one winter) and one hen (summer) kept, all were chrome (prior to this being filleted).

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
I thought all the river above the powerdale dam, which is about four miles above mouth, has been closed the last few years!!!! Let me guess, you couldn't believe how hot the fishin was and I bet you didn't even see another angler!!! Ha Ha, good for you UG!! At least somebody got lucky enough to fish that closed stretch of water!

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
You know, I was going to say something earlier but I'm glad Baitslinger said it first. There hasn't been fishing up there since the early or mid '90s. I could be wrong, but... what, me worry?

Hmmmm.....somethings fishy here! When I first read this topic, I'm sure I saw mention of fishin tucker park, and near an old sawmill, both of which are above powerdale dam. Now, like magic, those references are gone!! HaHa, good work guys!

UG,
Way to go man
I am glad to see that you are getting wise and posting pictures of filets and not of those nasty boot fish you are catching  Those filets are obviously rancid
Thanks for the great reports

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
Well, for better or worse, mother nature is going to take out the garbage, the summers are gonna be gone soon. The rain is coming, and I'll have to go to just posting pics of fresh winter fish. Going to try the Wilson tomrrow. But a late start, got some business in Tillamook to attend to in the morning.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
I'm sorry I missed the report before the edit of fishing closed waters. I am wondering why this is taken with a grain of salt and dismissed as something humorous? The area above the dam that is closed is home to wild steelhead only. The ODFW works a fish trap at the dam that doesn't allow hatchery fish above that point. So, all the fish that Uglygreen was targeting in the closed waters are wild. Not a laughing matter in my book and I hope he reads his fishing regulations before fishing waters he hasn't fished before. In my opinion, this action parallels the snagging that we have all been so down on lately. Instead, we are writing this off as an o.k. thing to do. Not me.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
why not stir the pot, people want to know the truth. this place gets a bit drab if everything is all goody goody. as long as it does not get out of hand lets talk and learn more about each other and follow the rules.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
Since everyone was "piling on" FM HERE, I do not think any of this recent crap
is funny at all either.
See the last post on the link above, before it was closed.
No fights or "return fire" intended. Just tired of it all. No Ego involved, Mr. Crabbait. Don't care actually, who thinks what about me, especially here sometimes. In life's big picture, means squat.
UG and everyone else, I wish you great success in all your future fishing adventures and life. You should do it right, legally and with some ethics, or don't do it. My opinion.
Personally, I don't have time for internet fishing games. Life is too short, especially when you get older, and Springers are only a few months away.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
There will be no bashing or pot stiring.
We're talking about game violations.
Ifish's hero UglyGreen is not above the law.
I, as both an avid fisherman, and guide feel that it is necessary to report these instances to the law.
Without actually seeing it firsthand, it will be tough to prove anything.
But to make the authorities aware that this activity is could be happening, is a resposibility I think I and other sports anglers share. If they don't know, how they gonna catch the bad guys ?
No different than snagging.
Oh yeah, I don't think the fishing is poor right now either. Not gang busters, but surely plenty of oppurtunity in a stream or river near you.
Have a nice day

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
******, well said: "In life's big picture, means squat."
all of this stuff here is real but it is not real life as most of this stuff would not really happen if we were in the real world face to face. this virtual world we participate in gives us fishing junkies a little entertainment/education on the side. so lets just let bygones be bygones and unite and respect each other. i feel when i see another ifisher out there on the water we have a connection and we should welcome that connection and treat each other better than strangers would. we will have differences in opinions cause we are humans and we need to state our beliefs and move on.
peace everybody.

I missed the unedited post too.
This is turning into something that is not what our readers come here for so it's time to put this one to bed.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
We were below powerdale... I think.
We saw plenty of other anglers fishing. It was my first time there. As my buddy is a local and a member of the Warm Springs tribe, I'll have to ask him.

Re: Hood River report... 12/7 & 12/8
True...
I really dont think he cares that much...usually he fishes a net or a gaff or a fishtrap, I rarely see him with a rod and reel. The stuff he is allowed to do with the tribe during Springer Season would make most Ifishers scream bloody murder. Different world I guess. (And yes - we did use rod and reel.)
