Default Netarts bay boat launch info??

Anyone have some info regarding crabbing in Netarts Bay?

I think I will give it a try tommorrow.I have a Driftboat w/ motor. Just wondering if the boat ramp is far from the crabbing area. I can't go real far, top speed 4 mph.

Any info would be great, the search didn't come up with much info.
thanks

You could start crabbing 50' from the launch. Be careful if you get out by the breakers it's east to loose post out there.

driftboater:

Be very careful if you go toward the ocean from the boat ramp. At 4MPH you probably won't be able to make significant headway against an outgoing tide. Also the breakers cross the spit and move up the bay as the tide comes in.

They lose boats and people drown there almost every year.

There is good crabbing 200 yard west from the boat launch in the deeper parts on the west side of the channel. I have also had very good crabbing above the boat launch.

Be careful and good luck.

I would also say be careful with your boat there. Just watch the tides. I have crabbed there and was VERY surprised how much juice I needed to stay even on an outgoing. And I was well up-bay of the ramp as well. I suggest you keep an anchor near the bow....just in case. That said, as in all things, if you are careful, you should be just fine
