lower clackamas report
put the ugly eastsider in this morning at carver and floated down to riverside. we got two summers, both on first cast jigs (yea mark!) with pink worms attached.
the first fish was for the new guy (on the left). his bobber goes under and he just sits there. when we prodded him to do something about it, he reeled down and gave a really weak hookset. couple of headshakes and the fish was off. he casts right back to the same spot, bobber goes down and he sets the hook good on it this time. the fish couldn't have gone more than five pounds but it was the biggest fish he's ever caught. i see some fishing gear in his future.
second fish was for the fishing buddy (on the right) around the guard rail area. they were both side floating (???) jigs along while i kept the boat straight. bobber goes down, pole goes back, fish on. this one was maybe six pounds and seemed to put up a better fight.
the rest of the float went well, but no more fish. we didn't have any oopsies along the way other than banging a few rocks in the skimpy sections. it was my first time drifting this stretch and i had no info on what to expect other than it's a relatively easy drift.

Re: lower clackamas report
hey fire,
that first riffle was the "wake me up" for the trip. yeah, we banged a few rocks but the bad part was we did it partially sideways. not how you want to do that. it did get my head on straight for the rest of the drift though.

Re: lower clackamas report
amp, tell me more tell me more. I want to do that drift and would love for a new rower to tell a new rower all the details from put in to take out. If you want shot me email. Any certain way to do the first set differently? Or just go for It?

Re: lower clackamas report
cully, I have never seen you here. This is the drift I have done a bunch of times. I got my boat in June and a few people have told me it looks just like yours. The river is low now but it is a great run for a newbie. If you ever want to do it email me. See you around. DRBfish
