Default Clack Report 12/08

Fished barton to carver today. Saw a few other boats... Only caught two fish, one late summer and one Nice Big Bright Winter fish. Was a thick 12 lb'er!

was fairly slow out there, but great weather to be on the river, but dang...28 degrees at light sure was cold Couldn't complain, though

Sublime,

Congrats on the fish!

What boat were you in today? I took my dad on a nice boat ride today in the same section, and thats all it was today, just a boat ride with no fish.

We were in the white Lavro.

Definately less windy on the Clack than on the Sandy today!

Good luck,
Andy

We were poking ice out of the rod guides this morning. BRRRRR!! Of all mornings to forget my gloves. One nice big summer with a little color took a favorite plug this morning. He got to finish his journey though as he was sporting all his fins.

"only caught two fish" you guys make me sick you know! I haven't caught a steelhead in this century. I've certainly never caught more than one in a day.

okay lost sailor, I guess I had high hopes. It's not that I slay tooo many steelies on my outtings, Its just that we caught 2 right away in the first hour or two, then it just kinda died after that. Wish the success would've continued throughout the afternoon...maybe that's how I should have put it~...

And yeah, ice on the guides....made for a cold morning.

But after today, I think I might focus on the coastal rivers...they'll be-a-rising!

Heres my bone-head report for sunday 12/8/02. I took my father in-law (visiting from Ellensburg) to the Clackamas. We started on that nice hole below that foot bridge across from Cross park. On my 4th cast I had a little reel/line trouble, you know the deal. So I peeled out enough line to fix it. As soon as I got the slack back up I realized that I had a fish on! It rolled about 15 feet in front of me. In the time it took me to reel down to set the hook, it was gone.... bummer. It looked nice and bright though. That was the only action we saw all day. Tried a couple other spots and finished up the day at Barton. I will be out there for sure when this long anticipated rain comes!!!

WN-32

I hear what your saying about the slack line and whammo! I had that occur a few years back above the power lines and was working to the outside of them clay boulders and was peeling line. Finally retrieved the belly I had in the line and it was tight. So what the hay, I set it hard. Ten plus minutes later I banked what would be the derby winner for the year from Estacada tackle. A nice bright 17 pound buck during the second week on JAN. Pink pearl/ pink yarn on a size one hook smoothered in Smelly Jelly shrimp scent. Water was high and off color.
