Default ******: Optima Batteries

******,

If memory serves me correctly you are also running a larger Yamaha outboard. I'm looking at replacing batteries here in the boat and am considering the Optima's. Next time you get a chance could you check and see which Optima you have in your boat. Cabela's lists several deep cycles and one cranking. Wanted to know which one you were using before dropping the $$. Thanks.

Running a 150 EFI Merc prop. Just go over to G.I. Joes and look at them. NOT deep cycle. Marine. Worth every penny.

GI Joes is a long way from Spokane. I've got a guy here that carries them. He has a cranking battery as well as the deep cycle battery. I'm running a 200 Yamaha. According to the specs in Cabela's the one deep cycle version actually has about 100 more cranking amps then the "cranking" version. Just don't want to make a mistake as they are spendy. I have one in my truck.

Sorry. This is the one I have. It is the 34M Starting Marine Battery.

Marine/RV Battery

OPTIMA Blue Top batteries, featuring SPIRALCELL TECHNOLOGY, are designed for all of your marine and RV, starting and deep cycle needs.

Vibration Resistant
The constant vibration and jarring from waves can be deadly for traditional marine batteries. The tightly wound construction in OPTIMA batteries minimizes plate movement and subsequent damage caused by harsh conditions - extending battery life.

Constant Performance Quality
OPTIMA Blue Top batteries provide constant performance quality as they are discharging. Even as energy is being drained, your equipment will perform at the same level as when the battery was fully charged. Meaning, you will not hear or feel your equipment slow down or strain for power.

Nonspillable

Because of its completely sealed case, OPTIMA Blue Top batteries are extremely safe. Acid can't leak or spill, making them clean, user-friendly and environmentally sound. In addition, the maintenance free sealed case design eliminates the need to add water or clean terminals.

Retains Charge / Recharges Faster

Marine batteries sometimes sit for months at a time and lose their charge. But the OPTIMA Blue Top battery has such a low rate of self-discharge, that it can go unused for up to one year without recharging, if it's kept at room temperature or below. And because of its low internal resistance, it recharges faster, getting you back on the water quickly.

Mounts in Almost Any Position

OPTIMA Blue Top batteries are leak proof, so they can be mounted anyplace inside boats or RVs, in almost any position.

Somebody tried to tell me these are prone to exploding if overcharged.

I took it with a grain of salt.

Don't know

Have not had to charge mine, except running the motor, in five years.

Optima Blue Tops..... the best battery I've ever owned.... Took it out of my 14 foot Alumacraft, after using it for my electric trolling motor for two years.

Put it in my '03 Stryker (a year ago August) as the second battery, and it's been fully charged, and ready to go ever since.... Pricey, and pays for itself over time!
