Default Wilson or another??

Im planning on heading to the Wilson for some steelhead this weekend. I will be a bankie. I'm really new to north oregon, being a southern coastie and am planning on hitting the Wilson. Does anyone have any ideas where to try or might another river be a better choice. By the way if anyone wants to get a lift I live in Beaverton and would love to take a new friend.

IMO, the wilson is a great river to steelhead fish from the bank because of the abundance of public land access.

I prefer the upper river, all the way up to the dead-line just past the bridge at the Elk creek campground. There is a hole that usually holds steelhead right before the river forks (dead-line), and couple of other productive holes if you walk down stream.

The river is best at around 5ft, and the river level link on the ifish data page show current levels a little over 5ft but predicted to spike over 8ft. So... the Wilson might be blown on Saturday, but who knows what mother nature will do.

Oh yea, take a look at the "Fishing Oregon" book. It has very good coverage for the Wilson.

fishgetter - Here is a link posted a couple of weeks ago with some Wilson River info. http://www.espn.go.com/outdoors/fish...son_River.html I, too, am going down solo on Sunday but haven't decided my target water yet. I'm watching river levels over the next 36 hours. I live in Multnomah, maybe we can hook up. Dennis

fishgetter,

I would love to join you if you're planning on going to the Wilson tomorrow. I've fished several holes there but only with limited success. I do have the "Fishing in Oregon" book and some eggs. I'll e-mail you so we can talk further.
