Default How much is too much fresh water?

I am making plans for crabbing this weekend (Sunday if the winds calm down), and was wondering how to determine ahead of time if a given bay will have too much fresh water.

Do people look at river levels? Is there a government site that post salinity data?

I really want to try Tillamook bay (first time), but will hit Netarts if t-bay looks like a lost cause.

WAS OUT 2 WEEKS AGO, CRABBED T-BAY AND DID WELL, SUSEPTIBLE TO WEATHER THOUGH, AND WHEN THE RAIN COMES YOU'VE GOT 5 RIVERS AND ALL THAT FRESH WATER THAT COMES OUT OF THEM,TOO MUCH FRESH WATER DOESNT HELP CRABBING. AFTER HITTING T-BAY ON DAY 1 WE HIT NETARTS ON DAY 2 AND DID EQUALLY AS WELL, YOU COULD OF CRABBED FROM A FLOAT TUBE IT WAS NICE, AND ONLY A 10 SECOND RUN TO THE CRAB GROUNDS AS WELL. NO RIVERS FLOW IN TO NETARTS SO SALINITY IS NEVER A PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK

Just crab on the incomming and you will be fine. We crabbed last Sat. and all the rivers were running mud and we got 22 keepers in 2hrs. So unless they are almost flooding the incoming salt water will bring in crab. Crab near crab harbor or even in between the jetties behind Lysters if it is calm out. Stay away from Netarts, the commercial crabbers are in and it really affects Netarts usually
