Theft on the wilson
About three weeks ago some busted a window on my car and stole some stuff . Today my buddy (parked @ the same place) walked up on a guy just as he was about to steal from his pick-up . No doubt about what he was doing he had backed his newer ford ranger red with blue sports package stripes and a canopy up to my friend's truck left his truck running, got out and that's when dude walked up and asked what the bleep he thuoght he was doing. I'd love to run into this guy.

Re: Theft on the wilson
not to discount what may or may not of been happening but maybe he also was a victim of theft and was looking to retrieve belongings as well.
Then again i think a call to OSP and that plate # may be the right course of action.
I'm not sure that post will remain long before the # is edited.

Re: Theft on the wilson
you know how i feel about this, <EDIT>
(Unless you meant that you keep a small bag of rice in your favorite Sport's Illustrated, that is a reference to illegal behavior and was removed.)

Re: Theft on the wilson
It is pretty sad when you cannot even go fishing on a river and have to worry about your car getting broken into. I forget John. Did they break your window?

Re: Theft on the wilson
Okay, we have an incomplete story here. What did the guy say when confronted? This vehicle was seen in the area recently? Along with how many other people that fish there regularly? Where the cops called? A police report made? More story please. I would hate to see a crook get away with it. I would also hate to think my license plate was posted on the internet because I frequent a place I like to fish and left my car running for a some reason (like I was listening to the radio as I rigged up, left the cell phone plugged in charging until the last moment), you know, normal stuff. More information is imperative before forming an opinion.

Re: Theft on the wilson
STG did you back your truck up to anouther and leave it running then go up to the truck and start looking in the back ? Then were confronted said " I was gonna fish here " and jump in your truck and leave . These incidents occurred near mile marker 28. Seems like I am seeing more of this theft lately in the last mounth I've seen 3 cars on hwy 6 with windows out and glass on the ground. I'll talk to that stater who works that road next time I see him ,but for now I have the plate # and eye's open. If I see that truck my response will be non-violent but I do plan to find out If he's the one. STG if you want more info I may have to talk to you on the tele

Re: Theft on the wilson
A little caution goes a long way. Statistics prove that car theft crimes are a crime of opportunity. If you leave all your stuff out in plain sight for all to see, or leave your stuff in the back of your truck, your odds are very high that someday...soon that you will be a victim. Words of wisdom, lock up everything, and I mean everything and put it out of sight. Even a blanket or coat helps. If the thief can't see what they are stealing, almost guarenteed they will move on to an easier target. I agree that you should not have to worry about leaving your gear in your vehicle, but unfortunately that's not the world we live in today. Good luck and be safe!

Re: Theft on the wilson
i've seen that truck on highway 6 before. i fish the upper wilson frequently and have seen it recently. i guess this is a warning to all of us who fish the wilson to keep our gear tucked away and locked up.

Re: Theft on the wilson
We all need to get this type of thing reported to the authorities who "can" make a difference with this type of information....

Re: Theft on the wilson
if you see someone throwing a rock get the plate call the police and report it. that's all anyone can do. your asking for trouble with confrontation since it's not your own vehicle. but then again Smith and Wesson has something else to say when it is my vehicle. i just came from over seas. you know how many people walked around asking for hand outs when they have no fingers. just a thought.

Re: Theft on the wilson
Fishing Magician, don't want to question you, but why would you even think about going down and leaving your wallet in your vehicle?
I do think that one of you that saw that truck, should let the county and state depts. know. If they even suspect someone, they will keep an eye out for the subject and might even catch him in the act.
