Default "Halooshky"

Found this recipe on another forum and it intrigued me enough that I had to try it. Turned out to be unusually delicious and easy to make. Fam is already pestering me to make it again. I made just half the recipe and it was enough for several helpings and leftovers.

I grew up on them. Still one of my traditional cultural dishes. I'll skip the borsch and take galushki any day. They and home made pierogies (pan fried) or vareniki (boiled) with some carmelized onions and pan fried bacon bits with some butter and you have a finger licking dish. Onions and Bacon bits are traditionally served with vareniki although both dishes are usually made with mashed potatoes although pierogies are sometimes done with cabbage and meat as well...

Freaking dark side keeps me up for days at a time and then usually my sentence composing skills are shot. I apologize!

Chef: Care to share any favorite recipes for pierogies? I've heard of these and they sound very good.

You can get frozen pieogies (sp) in the frozen section! Not homemade but cooked up with some onions and butter, not shabby! I married into halooshkies and have been enjoying them for about ten years. The bacon isn't in this families recipe, but I'll have to ask the wife to try it sometime, looks like it goes well.
