Default Brake Flush Kit ?

Just got my boat back from having the backing plates, brakes, and bearings replaced on the trailer. Salt water really does a number on them. Has anyone out there used the Brake Flush Kits for long enough to know if it really makes a difference?? I flush my motors by backing into a lake after every outing and thought that may help with the wheels also but i'm not sure. My backing plates, brakes and bearings only seem to last about 3 years. Is this about what you get? If you use a flush kit do you get any longer life on the wheels? Its a 20ft Predator, Baker tandem axle trailer with surge brakes.

Interesting,

I've got same boat on a new Baker dual axle trialer and ASSUMED that backing into fresh water would do it too.

The flush kit 'pressure washes' the brakes rather than soaking them. I hook up the hose and run each axle for about 10 minutes after it's been in the salt. I only have 2 years on the new boat and trailer, but so far so good. I have electrics so if anything can go wrong, it will. I'll let you know in a couple of years if I make it any longer than your 3 years!

I can not address your question about how well a flush kit works, but 3 years on brakes is about normal (I was told when mine went out at 4 1/2 years).

I replaced my rusted out brakes with stainless steel disk brakes, which I was able to install myself (brake shops may not do because it is not their parts). After 2 1/2 years, the SS disks still look good, and work well. FYI - I wish I had installed a rebuild kit on my surge brake reservoir, and next time I do the wheel bearings, I will try a special spindal grease seal that Buddy Bearing makes.
