Default Spin-n-glows for steelhead?????

I was wondering if using a spin-n-glow in conjunction with bait in cold and clear conditions would work well.
My thinking is to "wake up" lethargic steelhead
Any ideas on color selections?????

Use em all the time! Make sure and run beads with them so they dont bind up. Peach and white with a sandshrimp is deadly!

Chrome/Redhead with sandshrimp will never work.

Also lime over charteuse will absolutely not work either.

And if you really do not want to use a spin-glo then stay away from pink/white half and half also with sandshrimp...

Tight lines!!

Had many luck with pink/white with thin black stripes on the body. Just use some prawns or shrimp scent. Make sure there is adequate current to give it a twirl!

Oh yeah.

Drift fish them like you would a corkie. Use a bead or two between it and the hook.
I have a favorite spot on the Sandy where I flyfish, chuck bait, drag spinners and then switch to the drift fished S&G and start nailing fish.
Many times the fish take it on the swing and peck at it for many yards until then.
Sometimes you will get a hard grab on them at the bottom of the drift.
A friend of mine is a religious spin and glo fisherman but he is kinda weird about it. He does not buy them persay but picks them up in log jams and back eddies and only uses ones he has found.
He has spanked me many times.
Go figger, I just buy em'........

Give me a pink pearl corkie with a little yarn anytime. I've used spin-n-glo's but prefer non spinning, leader twisting drift bobbers. Just my .02.

Birdies are a good one too. Pink and white. I had problems sometimes with my leader twisting if the hole was not clear. I went through one night and ran a needle through all of my spin-n-glo's and birdies. Have not had theat problem since.

When i first started steelhead fishing,I used nothing but a small !! orange and green(charteuse)
spin-glo with a I think it was a # 6 hook (Gold)
anyway it was a single egg hook could have been a #4 ?? wwith a small cluster of eggs.I caught lots and lots of steelhead,I don't know why I ever went away from this ?? cus I caught a lot of steelhead with this rig.Now since I've learned
how to fish I've got a tackle box and several smaller boxes full of corkies and plugs and spin-glos and don't seem to catch near the amount of fish  . My favorite go to bait now is a orange and charteuse GLO-GO the old style.I bought a bunch of them when I heard they don't make them anymore.I've got very few left
so I'm hoarding them as a last ditch lure.I've never done real well on a pink pearl spin-glow
but have had good luck with a pink pearl corkie  ,anyway spin-glows do work.I use them when useing a diver and bait.
Bob

I use them all the time. The Mylar winged ones in cold or dirty water and the rubber winged ones in clearer conditons.

For drift fishing steelhead I use sizes 6 to 10. Salmon I use sizes 4 and 6. Use Colors that match the conditions.

Plunking big Spin Glows works really well for Steelhead when the water is up. Ive caught a whole lot of Steelhead while plunking.
