Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
I've searched the archives, and uncovered alot of good info, but I wanted to bring the topic to the top again.
I'm going to re-power my 18' forward helm Fishrite. I'm looking for opinions and experiences regarding the Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki 115hp motors with props and controls. I'm leaning toward the 'zuke (maybe even 140hp), mainly because of price as well as not hearing about any negative experiences yet. I think they're all good, I just want to make a informed decision. Dependibility and price are the main factors in choosing the new engine.
I know that alot of guys have bought new boats this year, and most of them have a 4-stroke on them, so lets hear what you think. Thanks, snit

Re: Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
I own the 140 Suzukison and could not be happier. The white package goes better with my boat than Black and a couple k($) less than suzuki. It pushes my 19' Duck along at 44mph with light load, top up and loaded for action I'll get about 40-41. Fast enough for me at any rate. You won't be disappointed with any of the motors you mention. Good luck and have fun! zip

Re: Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
Thanks zip! Also, if you have had a good experience (or bad) feel free to post the name of the dealer where you purchased your engine. I hope that is OK with Jen (sponsor stuff, etc)? If not, then that's ok too.

Re: Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
I have a 2000 DF-70 Suzuki. No problems in the 3 years I have owned it.
I just wish it was louder, and used more gas.

Re: Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
I have a yamaha 4-stroke pump in 100hp on my boat and love it. It is quiet, clean runnig, and easy on gas. I have had it for four years and have had no problems. I would definantly recomend them.

Re: Re-Power 4-Stroke ???'s
Thanks Santiam! I've always been a yami fan. My kicker has several thousand hours on it and it just keeps on "kickin'.
Any merc owners owners out there too? Just trying to get some first hand opinions. We have a excellent local merc (and yami) dealership, so local warranty service is also important. The closest suzuki dealer is 2-3 hours away.
