Default Willapa Bay

What does anyone know about fishing this bay and tributaries, clamming and crabbing.
Particulary on the South and West side.

Thanks for the info.

If you go to the library and pull up the outdoors page of the Oregonian for Wednesday August 27, 1997 Bill Monroe had a nice article that I cut out which included maps, boat launch and so on.

The fishing takes place near Tokeland and there is a boat launch at Tokeland Marina off of hiway 105. This fishery is an incomming tide fishery only. No jettys for protection and there are many missing bouys. Grass can also be a problem here just like Tilly. Advantage, not much pressure here and it is relativly undiscovered.

Fishing here is in August and September just like bouy 10 but without the crowds. In 97 the return was 65,000 for chinook that were heading for smith creek, Willapa River and the Naselle River.

Don't know about crabbing except it is closed in Washington at this time

As far as Along the Long Beach Peninsula those are mainly Oyster beds there. You might ask Hoggemin about that as he has been going there longer than I have. Watch out for the southwest wind. It can make things unpleasant.

I've caught sturgeon above the hwy 101 bridge a hundred yards or so, there's a small boat ramp as I remember at the brige, maybe. Its a place to get away from the crowds and have great fishing.
