How many points did you have going into the drawing??
First, your only maybe 2.5 hrs away? So I would think many scouting trips and some good time behind a spotting scope are in order.
There was also a thread on here not too long ago about Ht Mtn as well. Might do a search.
Have fun, that's a great hunt I hear. Burned my 1 point last year so 1 and counting for me.
Take LOTS OF WATER and be in shape and Have Fun!

Congrats on drawing that tag, should be a blast......or something like that. Bring sun screen and some shade and maybe some bug spray depending on where your hunting. PM me if you need some info about the area. Oh, and get in shape.

My Grandpa and his friends and family hunted it from the time it opened to bow hunting in the fifties to the eighties but they hunted it by doing big drives with guys on stands. They killed alot of bucks that way. My uncle hunted it with a muzzleloader twice and killed 170-180" class bucks both times back in the late eighties. He found where the other hunters were heading and then sat on a stand in a saddle crossing.
All I can say is "It isn't as good as it once was". Oh the big ones are there but you got to get way back in one of the remote areas... I would recommend the South West end!

I had the #3 hunt last year and the better bucks we were seeing this time of year were South West.
