Jen, I must be missing some basic thought, but how do I know when I have a private message. Every now and then I go to my profile and see I have had a message from months ago. Am I not catching some kind of hint?

After you click to update your profile ..... at the very bottom there is a check box to "be notified by email when someone sends you a private message" check yes in that box... You will be notified by email when you have a private message.
