Default Lewis River Night Fishing

Anybody have any advice for me on where to try the North Lewis for steelhead at night over next month or so. I have a hard time getting out during daylight to fish lately.

Try the usual suspects - The Hatchery Hole right below the Lewis River Hatchery, the Meat Hole just off the Cedar Creek Boat Ramp (opposite the hatchery), the Golf Course just off the Lewis River Road, and the Island Boat Ramp.

None of these areas are secluded, out-of-the-way spots where nobody fishes. Expect a good number of anglers with a variety of skills and abilities - everything from fly anglers with their nine-weights to snaggers with yellow rods and 8/0 hooks.

Last I knew, the winter steelhead haven't shown up yet. The late run coho are still around and reasonably bright. But the run is small and bright fish are hard to find. Good luck.

The faster water just above the hatchery has yielded plenty of steelhead. I have only caught a few at night though.

See ya out there. Good luck,
