Default Boat trailer--Galvanizing

Does anyone know where I can get a boat trailer galvanized. My trailer is 24 years old and in serious need of sandblast and paint . I would prefer to have it galvanized if I can find where to have it done.

If I were you, I'd probably just have it blasted and repainted. It most likely has rust on the inside of the tubing or rails which would be hard to remove without an acid dip. I think if you want a galvenized trailer your better off just buying a new one. IMO Good luck.

It's spendy. I'll talk to my brother and see who does his plating work and post it.

Just an idea- you can buy galvanize spray in a can. It's called spray-galv, or cold-galv. It's not as good as the real thing, but you might look into it.

I have seen the facilities to do it. They do it in NW Portland just west of the Montgomery Park building.

The place Tilla is talking about is the Galvanizers Co. on NW 30th in PDX. I talked to them a couple of years ago and they had a $90 minumum at the time, which was too much for the small parts I wanted done. I suspect that's what a trailer would cost.

Thanks guys for the info. The last time I did a trailer it cost more for sand than the metal. I blasted it myself. Anything under 3 or 4 hundred bucks would be comparable to sandblast and paint and I wouldn't have to do it again.

Eightball....I just last week got my 20 yr old trailer sandblasted and painted, epoxy primer with Urathane 2 coat...rewired new lights, new trailer tires, rims, winch, web strap, cut off the old wood side guides, fab new chime guides, new bunks...100% redone...total cost on my trailer that carries my 22' sled....$580...I called to get quotes on new trailer it ranged from $2400 to $2800....My rust was not bad at all..BUT you can not get an old tube trailer gav dipped...due to internal rust in the tubes...after doing this I can give you several lessons learned..Also if you want to put your boat some where I have a good friend that has a floating home with a covered boat slip can hold a 26' boat...you can email me and let ya know...
