Why wait.......
Me and my youngest son had a dentist visit yesterday and we got out at about 4p.m.. Had just enough time before dark to hit a favorite hole. Thought there might be a couple silvers around to let the little guy wrestle with. Seen a few really dark ones but they didn't choose to participate with us.
Took a few casts with a #5 brass homemade spinner and managed one light take but missed it. Little late on the trigger pull. It was about 20 till 5 and it was getting dark fast. Had just enough time to throw the little guy on my shoulders and hit the next rift. 2 casts into the slot and a 35" raging clipped buck steelhead nailed that spinner while at the same time doing a triple spin about a foot out of the water. I didn't give him the chance to do any real long runs. I was able to strong arm him in while he was doing the topwater shuffle. Even on the bank he was still managing back flips until I bonked him.
Nailed a nice steelehead about a week and a half ago. It managed to come unbuttoned right at the bank. I have a really good feeling about this season. Even with the low water the fish are pushing in.
Will post pics if they come out OK. Wife snapped them on the deck, but it was pretty dark out. I reeeaalllyyyy want a digital camera for X-mas, I've been a good boy this year! :depressed:
