Good Question Tim

Quick Cure, Pro Cure Wizard or Amermans?

I saw days this fall when each one outperformed the other two. I'm just trying to figure out why? I'm thinkin it's the scent added to the eggs that really makes the difference.

Any opinions?

you've got a good point I make it a point to take three different flavors with me whether I fish for salmon or steelhead and different scents added to each. Tim

where is Oregon Egg Cure available from? And also Shur Cure? I am in Southern Oregon, and the only thing available is Pro Cure.

Something I use is Ground shrimp powder. It is usually in the mexican food section of the grocery store. Sprinkle that over your eggs then sprinkle your favorite cure and the shrimp gets in the eggs(osmosis)... Try it, I couldn't keep the steelies off my eggs this fall!

I am an amerman's cure believer. I used it for the first time this year and it really worked. to the point where my dad (old and set in his ways) about ******* when I was out fishing him 2 to 1 with em. rigged the same way, fishing in the same spot. This was the first time he charged me for gas, it cost me a pint of eggs
Its easy to use, BUT, I leaned the hard way to wear latex gloves.

If borax is a commercial cure, then thats the only one to use for steelhead down here. Fall salmon I like Quick cure in red, orange. and blend. The springer cure is a secret!

My .02 cents worth...

I've been using Mr. Shur Cure since the beginning of time...

I figure ALL my eggs turn out great, so why change!

I like the way they turn out! Everytime!

So will you ! Mr. Shur Cure is the way to go!

I sell it at my bait shop. Call me if interested.

CC I've got to agree with you I started fishing with a guy last winter that used straight borax on his steelhead eggs and boy they ate them.

I generally use borax only or borax and some reddish jello for steelhead but only put a small quantity of steelhead eggs up this fall. Want to try some Amermans and am going to stop by the Sportsman's Warehouse in Salem but am wondering if there are steelhead eggs avail. also? Has anyone used the Amermans u/r bright eggs for steelhead? Thanks

I tried a new one... Nate's Bait Cure... only seen it at Estacada Tackle so far, for Steelhead. Seemed to work really well, made a harder cured egg that was good for multiple drift casts and was still steelhead candy. Caught a bunch of summers in the almost slack water freedrifting these eggs.
