They do or did make a Calcutta 401 TE. The TE stands for total efficiency. They are the left handed version of the 400. If you go on eBay or amazon you can see them along with the prices.

They are a fantastic reel. Smooth drag and smooth easy to cast.

yes, they make the 401te, but not a standard 401. pretty ignorant. would be nice if they made a 300 series too.

Yes. I know. My go to salmon rod has a 401te on it. They arent close to $220 though.

I was just pointing out to the original poster that he isn't going to get a 401 Calcutta for the price he is hoping.

well they had one at dicks for 229 and the te for 369
