I was in GI Joes checking out the Ammerman Steelhead cure.
The lable said the cure "should be kept in a freezer, so the cure didn't draw moisture. If it drew moisture it would turn clummpy & rocky".
Well the steelhead cure was clumpy and the salmon cure was fine. I didn't buy the Steelhead cure cuz I thought it looked toast!
Whats the deal did I do right or should I have used it??
Since I've never cured eggs I don't have a clue.
I've never been a egg fisher. I use shrimp, corkies, spinners, spoons. But, not even once a year eggs. I've never got into curing eggs or fishing them cuz, I stuck with what I know.
Well I decided to branch out, eggs and bobber and jigs.
A while back I bought me a quart of Ammerman Salmon eggs.
For $24.95 I thought they better be darn good!
Well this moring I went coastal and took a skien of eggs.
I banked a chrome hen steelie on a pink thumper.
I move down to the next spot, and go to the Ammerman eggs. Bout 5th cast I hook a dark 30# plus nook. He breaks me off.
I bait back up and 2nd cast I come up with 13# plus winter rocket. This fish took line at will and flew up river. I was awestruck, just standing still. I woke up and realized I'd better start running up stream, If I want to see this fish again. As I'm heading up I'm thinking it's way too early for a nate?? Up at the next hole I went the rounds with this guy. I couldn't believe what this fish had for me. This fish was what winters are all about. I didn't want to tag out so early,
but the fish had a spell on me.
So I cast 7 times and baited up twice with the eggs, hooked two fish. Good deal!
So a few more questions>.
1. Does it matter if you use salmon eggs or steelhead eggs when fishing for steelhead.
2. Salmon Cure or Steelhead cure does it matter?
