Default Drifting the Wilson/Clack ????

What should the water level be (CFS) before I attempt to drift the lower Wilson or the Clack to get the optimal drift.

What is the best car?Honestly a sort of blanket question. For total ease of drifting and pretty much promise fish in the system try the Wilson around 5 feet. They may not bite but they should be there. The clack is harder. The sleds are on it hot and heavy at around 12 feet or so.If you dont mind dodging motorboats, then it fishes well at a greater variety of heights than most others.I am far from an expert on the Clack system but I think it may be safe to say 10-15 feet.10 is low and you may have to drag your drifter in a few places but the sleds will be gone.Maybe 15 is too high, but I think it is in the park.I choose to stay off when the big boys are playing so I really cant say.
Good Luck.

For the best fishing on the Clackamas, I like 13.0' to 13.5'. Fishing most drifts is great flow, it would be a tough row in a DB, fairly strong current, and a strain for back-trolling. If you have a small kicker, you're all set, Happy Drifting!!!

I DB the Clack extensively, and above 12 feet makes things tough. Really have to work at it, but if you do, you catch fish. Lots of work, maybe not for a beginner......

I was up the Clack today and it looked great. Water level 11.5 about at 7AM. I did see some gravel still showing at coffee's. The Wilson is crystal clear at 5 foot usually. It fishes better around 6 foot.

Conventional wisdom says the Wilson is best from 4.5 to 5.5 feet, but I have gone down it w/no problems as low as 3.2. It seems to hold color pretty good up to around 7 feet, some of the best days we had last year were when it was "to high" at around 6.5 ft.
