Default Eagle Creek

What is the best way to get to Eagle Creek? Where is the place to fish there? How long will decent coho be in there? I don't need any secrets but any info would be appreciated. I have fished the Clack but never the creek and just want to give it a shot.

Take 212 East towards Estacada. Either turn right at the blinking light in Eagle Creek and follow down or turn left at the Eagle Fern Park sign prior to where the highway crosses the creek and follow that.

I tend to do the left-hand turn, but that's just me. The road follows the creek for awhile, and there's a lot of good water up there.

Depends on what you call decent. There's a LOT of dark fish in there, but I hear that they can be like old ice cream, where if you scrape off the bad layer that it's gooood eats.

No secrets there. What water that isn't owned by the Oregon Fishing Club is pretty populated with less-fortunate bankies. Personally I wouldn't fish that area due to the fish being very dark, but I guess I'm rather picky that way. Shouldn't be, for how few fish I catch...

Fishing Geek,
I think it would be easier if you just took him up there and showed him...Sheesh!

It is only 25 minutes from Gladstone Bluewater, go up and check it out. Even if you drove up and back it isn't like you went all the way to the coast.

Someone other than Blue Water will likely be having the same questions, so I might as well put it out there for the search feature to find later.

It has been my experience that Eagle Creek drops pretty quickly after a good rain. Of course, that also depends on ground saturation point.

Hope that helps. Run up there and check it out. Even if it does happen to be blown (don't see that happening soon, but who knows?) it will give you an idea as to where to go and how to fish it.

Is it obvious what water is open to the public, and is there a certain place to park?

Both questions can be answered by saying "look for the cars".

Yeah, the private land is well-marked. The stuff along the road should be open pretty much the whole stretch. There are many places to pull off to walk the creek.

Corkie and eggs? Or Corky and yarn? Or does it matter.

Yarn only, with anise oil. Depending on who you talk to, anywhere from chartreuse to red to orange. Twenty to twenty-four inch leader, depending on water quality. Faster water slots.
