Default Wanted: burned out Ambassadeur

I know this belongs in classifieds, but I figured more people view here, so I thought I'd post here as well (did put ad in classifieds too). Thanks for understanding, but running out of time.

I am making a retirement gift for my Dad. I'm making him a shadow box filled with gear, old pictures, and misc stuff. But, the big thing I'm adding to the mix is a busted fenwick butt section. Luckily, I can saw it off so that if fits inside the shadow box. But, now I need a reel to put on the rod. I don't want a fully functional reel. I want one that someone is about to throw away. It's going to be locked forever in a display, so don't need one that works. Just want it to look halfway decent on outside. Egg gunk is ok, just not scratched to hell.

So, if you have one, let me know how much you want for it. Old one's would be great, but would take a 5500 series. Any help would be appreciated. Need it pretty quick, so if I don't get one by end of Nov, will just go without.

Thanks everyone.

They are hard to burn out. I have 6000c that I bought in 1975 and used for salmon in Alaska for 15 years. It's been rebuilt several times and I still use it.

I think I saw one at a pawn shop the other day. I'll check when I go to town tomorow.

Trust me, I know they're hard to burn out. I have about 15-20 6001c's and 5001c's. My Dad has at least twice that many. All are in awesome working shape. But I have seen some that have been abused, and gears have corroded up.

Thanks everyone for all the emails, I may have lined up a reel.

Thanks again, I do appreciate it.

Well just your luck! I just ran over 1 of mine. It was attached to a Berkley series one steelhead rod, now a 3 piece. The reel has one crushed side, handle is mangled etc. reel is about 20 years old and is a 5000 series. moral of the story never lean your rods up against the fence to wash off, at least on the side you back the boat in on. e-mail me if you are interested
