Eagle Creek / Sunday 11/10/02 (Pics)
A nice morning on the creek, creek was up 8-10 inches, and a few sprinkles.
There were a few fish movin thru... about 50-100 per hour.
Most of the ole sore backs had already moved on, most of the fish up from the clack were about like this.... some color, but not all beat up.
A beautiful wild buck in full spawning colors poses for a pic before resuming his journy.
Another nice hen... I slipped on a rock and fell on my face in the creek while landing this fish (sorry, no pic).
Ummmmm.... Yummy
As you can tell, I got a new toy... a little digital camera to take fishing... pretty cool huh?

STGrule,
Isnt that an awsome shade of red... Adult male Coho are the prettiest of all mature salmon. Others just get dirty / grungy looking, but buck Coho have...... that look.
How would you describe it?

For all the guys e-mailing me.
Plain pink yarn on a 24" leader with a #2 (pearl black) owner hook. No corkie, just yarn.
Smother yarn with anise oil every 5 casts or so. I hooked 20-25 fish, only 2-3 foul hooks.

DFB - yeah, but lets not start that discussion again...
BT - I got the Minolta DiMAGE X - its really neat, only about the size of my wallet, fits in a shirt pocket with ease.

Re: Eagle Creek / Sunday 11/10/02 (Pics)
My Eagle Creek story is far less enjoyable than yours. I was really pumped to get out there today after the fishing there yesterday. I picked up a couple of shiny jigs I thought would be effective where I couldn't really drift before. But looking at the creek I find a nice fast current ideal for drifting, I reach for my leaders and... nothing. I had left my Pip's Box at home, where I had happpily tied up some new leaders in expectation of another trip. But that was okay, I still had two jigs I had selected just for this creek. I get my first rig set up and cast right into the other side where the jig wraps itself around a blackberry vine 10-15 times. This was the one part of the creek that I really didn't think I could wade. Okay, chalk it up to experience tie on the not so shiny, not quite so Cohoie second jig and work my way downstream. I look around the bend at the hole that I wanted to work yesterday but couldn't for all of the people pulling spinners... Its empty! I wade, trudge, and wade some more down to where I can cast my little jig into the eddie that was stacked with fish yesterday. I cast! Up into the tree already decorated with as much hardware as an aisle of Fisherman Marine and Outdoor. Last jig gone.
I walked up and down looking for a single hook left on the ground by anyone, but my day was over.

Those are some beautiful pics UG. It's amazing what a little rain will do. It sounds like you did better than I did yesterday, I only got three in three hours or so. They sure were moving through fast. It seems like there are more wild fish in the creek this year than I've gotten the past couple of years.

Chris, you are always so caring for those berries. Sure would not want to see them go without a home aye?

Nice job, UG!
It's nice to see someone who appreciates the fall river scene and the different beauty of the salmon when they make the transition from chrome freezer-fodder to that amazing returning salmon story.
Yeah, there's something special, too, about that cherry-ish color that those coho bucks acquire. Great fish!

Re: Eagle Creek / Sunday 11/10/02 (Pics)
Sorry Chris, other than the steelhead candy Ive been savin up, these are the only fresh eggs in my inventory, I use these up and am back to the frozen sort. I wasnt able to do the big Coho/URB stockup like last year (Tuna dont have eggs wortha a damn), and the last three weeks have put a big dent in the inventory.
PF - Yeah, I like the fall colors - fish or leaves, a am ready to see some green waer though!

Re: Eagle Creek / Sunday 11/10/02 (Pics)
Well, that idea was a bust. Well, as far as the catching goes. The fishing was great. Not a lot of pressure (for Eagle Creek mind you), plenty of fish to get you going, dippers running up and down the river and actually a pleasant afternoon of weather.
But nothing doing for me today in terms of the end of my line.
