Default N. Santiam!

Escorted Swim Shady from the mouth of the mainstem all the way up the N. Fork to Bennett Dam yesterday. The good news is that the log jams above greens bridge are gone! Last year I saw alot of boats down in this mess! The bad news......no fish! Still a little early for winters. Overall had the river to ourselves, a couple folks out duck hunting. The river was in awesome shape! I know the spring rains may change the river conditions, but for now its a good, clear run!

That's great news, and you probably went up the South sides of all the islands. Last year 6 or 8 boats sank in this (GB-Shelburn) section, so it is great news and we really appreciate the report. You apparently put in at Buena Vista and went 31 miles upriver and back. Thanks sincerely for the report.

More than welcome Bill! I know the section you are talking about. It was a graveyard in there! As I rounded the corner from the narrows, I was amazed to see all the debris was gone! There is one tree remaining in that run. It is the one laying mid-stream at the bottom of the run. That tree took at least one boat last year. It may be a problem later with lower flows.

A co-worker lost his boat on that stretch last spring. He said the one that followed him down sank also, a nice new Alumaweld. I'm sure he'll be happy to know thats its clear now, not that it does him any good! Thanks for the report!

It may be clear today, and that's great news. However, the riverbanks are so soft there that another rain and windstorm can, and will, blow more dangerous trees there. Stopping to look around blind corners is smart. Thanks again for the scouting mission.
