Default Big river Steelies (Columbia)

I, as well as many others, have the itch to fish.

Just wondering if anyone knows if they have been picking up any steelhead in the Columbia, Down around the St.helens, Rainier area. I know its about that time. If any of yall have a report, it would be greatly appreciated.

Bt519,
I was just basing it on the fact that 360,234 steelhead have already went past you and have gone over Bonneville Dam  . I was posting on the topic of Big River Steelies (Columbia). I didn't realize the topic was about the Clack or the Lewis. My bad.

Hey Steve, he must be talkin' about winter runs, not our summer runs. I love it when guys around here (mid/upper Columbia)talk about catching "winter runs" 'cause they caught them in the "winter", even though they are summer runs. It's been really good from Wenatchee to Chief Joe BTW.

Fear no fish,

Didnt mean to come off as argumentative. I appologise. We dont really start hitting winter fish out here until now. I realize there has been over 300,000 over bonn. But i am referring to the winter fish not yearly total.Last year i started hitting good numbers of fish the second week in December. Thanks for the insight. Good luck FISHIN.

Blacktail, I was clearing it up that you were asking about current winter run action on the lower Columbia. I was just stating that all the prior fish (300K+) were mainly summer runs that "we" (FNF, and myself etc) are fishing for now. I think Steve was trying to say that you missed out (if you didn't fish for them) on some great steelhead fishing earlier this year. Just trying to help. Good luck.

Hey there Fear no fish,

how do you figure the fish have moved past us? the clakamas hasnt even seen fish numbers yet, let alone the lewis. That is just a few to mention.I dont know how long you think it takes for those fish to get from st.helens to the mouth of the Clak. But it sure couldnt possibly be that long. An for them to get from st.helens to the lewis, is less then a mile partner. So either you have no Idea Where St.helens Is, Or Fish swim VERY VERY VERY VERY SLOOOOOOOW. Anyway, to answer your question. NO the fish have not passed us already!
