Default Slide-rite Driftboats

I was looking at a used drift boat today and it was a slide-rite. I do not know much about this brand, any input? Kinda looks like a larvo in design.

WHOA, mister B&C. Looks like a Lavro?!?? A Dodge Valient, and a Porsche look alike in some ways. They both 'got rubber touching the ground at four places, they both 'got engines.................. You get my drift? Just because they're both made of fiberglass, doesn't make them anywhere close to equal.
I've owned my Slide-Rite for 11 years, and used it very hard. If I ever wear-out this one, I would buy another one. Unfortunatly, the guy that built them, was a far better boat builder than he was a business man. As far as I know, he is no longer in business building Slide-Rite boats. His forms for Slide-Rite drift boats were sold to Don Hill of Springfield, and I have seen a few of them on the river, and they have that unique Slide-Rite form. I have not been able to get a close look at one.
If the boat you are looking at is in good condition, buy it. you won't be sorry

Slide-Rite DB's are not only nice visually but they are tough and fish great. I second what M W Sheller says. A Lavro, huh? My boat was built in '84 and I bought it used about 12 yrs ago. It is still going strong eventhough it took some hard hits when first learning to row and other runs on the upper nestucca. If the boat is in good shape and decent price... I say go for it!

ok, ok, I deserve 10 lashings with a rubber hose for the comparision. I come from a family that has always owned an aluminum drifter (currenlty have a 16 ft Alumaweld guide model) and have not looked into many glass boats. I was actually looking at the boat for a friend of mine who wants a drift boat. So, I did some research. Slide-rite sold their molds to Don Hill Boats of Springfield @ 541.747.7430. Don told me that if you need fiberglass work, look up Tom Smith Fiberglass in Goshen, Oregon.

On to the boat, it is a 16X50 1988 Slide-rite in very good condition, boat came with trailer, rear anchor mount with floor release, anchor, rope, pole holders, older sawyer wood oars and spare oar locks. The boat has an adjustable front seat and a removable fish box. I looked at numerous boats prior to buying this boat for Scott. Below is a poor pic of it, but as you can see, it is in great shape. The price you ask?? $1,800.
