Default Anchor Rust

Have cosidered what to coat my anchor with for prevention of corrosion. Can do powder coating (color would match my boat) or galvanizing. Both are about the same price. Could also just spray paint it with rustoleum paint...any ideas out there on how to keep my anchor from sharing rust with my boat?

I have tried the restoleum paint on my anchor, it works in keeping the rust off, put the paint chips easily on rocks, and you end up carrying a spray can in your boat....I have heard the powder coating works well. Would look sweet if it matched your boat. My .02

On my Gregor fishing boat I have mine painted with Krylon Flat paint. It chips now and then but the touch up takes all of two minutes and is cheap.

The Crownline's is galvanized.

Powder is the way to go. Up to 7x more chip resistant than paint. E-mail me and I can lead you in the right direction. chrissic@pcez.com

Get it double dip galvanized and you wont have to worry about it again. Place down on Yeon in NW Portland will do it for less than $20. Should be sandblasted first.

thesea and all else.

The obvious is that you are not using your boats and anchors enough.

Galvanizing sounds like it might work.

In terms of durability, I'd say go galvanized. Next is powder coating but are you going to take your anchor in once a year to get it recoated when it eventually chips? Rattle cans are the easiest, but the finish can be less than desirable.

My vote: galvanized.
