Default North to Alaska

O.K. So my wife and I are planning to renew our vows in August and I thru out the idea of a second honeymoon. She asked where and I suggested Alaska [every where elese will be to hot I told her mostly kidding] and she bit. Hook line and sinker. Though my wife is not a princess she does enjoy good accomidations.

My question is can anyone recomend a quality lodge all inclusive with guided fishing on the Kenai river. It needs to be somewhere close to Seward because after a few days fishing we are taking a cruise back to vancover. Not looking for tent camps but a fairly nice lodge or cabins. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this trip turns out nice maybe we can make it a yearly thing  .

Thanks MM

Wow! you get to fish on your honeymoon. She's a keeper. The wife so nice you have to marry her twice.
congratulations.

Check out the Kenai Princess in Coopers Landing. It is great. It's owned by Princess Lines and sits up on the hill overlooking the Kenai in one of the most beautiful, scenic spots on the entire river. Guide service for fishing and raft trips are right there in the area and can be set up by the hotel. It's not a real long drive from Seward either.

reeldick - you took the words right out of my mouth.

The Kenai Princess is in a beautiful location up on the hill overlooking the Kenai. The other thing to look into are some of the Bed & Breakfasts in the Soldotna area. Look up the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce for lots of listings. Sounds like the perfect vacation / honeymoon opportunity.

Ditto what reeldick and Steelie Steve said...
The Kenai Princess is very nice and a beautiful location... the best accomodations in the area, but not really a fishing lodge. Mostly for sightseers as part of their cruise/tours. If it's not part of a package book it early, and there are certainly lots of guides in the area who can take you fishing. Alaska Wildland Adventures has some good Kenai packages that are geared for fishing, but I'm not sure the lodging is as nice as the Kenai Princess.
August is silvers, maybe some late sockeye, and really good rainbow fishing in the upper river. With a southbound cruise it's tough to bring back fish unless you ship it... c&r rainbows on a driftboat trip would be my choice and maybe a silver trip where you could have your fish processed and shipped and it wouldn't be too spendy.
