Default 3 Steel 1 Salmon Don\'t you love fall?

Started the week looking for steel east of the mountians, SCORE went 5 for 5 with one clipped

On Thursday I had booked a trip as a gift for my with David Johnson for Tillamook Bay. SCORE went 3 for 3 with one nook kept and two wild coho released

On Saturday I went searching for steel again. Went a horrible 2 fish for 10 hooked, unfortunately I left my hook file at home. At least the two were hatch brats

To top it off I just took 20 lbs of fish off the smoker 20 min ago that I have to pack now! Life is good now I have to start planning for next weeks adventures!

He caught them upstream from the Deschutes and alas, today being Sunday was not as good.

Nickle, we ended up 1 Nate for 4 was all! Another nate took the hot plug. You know the one.

Reel Dick lost a plug on another one too. The only saving grace was about 1/2 hour later what should we see floating nearby? You guessed it...

It was CCCCCCCOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLDDDDDD!!! About 12 degrees at launch! We dressed warm but the fast run up froze the face! Plus I felt like a trussed turkey there were so many layers on. Kept shedding them all day.

We left early. Much much ice in the river! Had to plow some and turn out of some good slots. Plugs looked like bass poppers out there!!

Hog,

You will have to go with me. Stay warm in heated canvas as boat steers itself  If we ever do go fishing together you will have to sign a waiver stating that all names, dates and places will have to be changed when you write of our mishaps on this board. This must be done to protect the innocent and the not so innocent!

That is why you have to buy at least 4 of each color of plug!

Did you try bobbering for steel?

I may be chasing them again later this week, Thursday and Friday, Friday for sure!

Nickle.

I cry uncle and now you may be in real trouble because Friday beckons!

And yeah, we were commiserating on the value of a plug when you are about 18,238 miles from the nearest sporting goods store. A plug barge could make a killing out there!

Actually it got pretty nice as there was NO wind today. Zero, zippo, nada nothing. So the sun felt dang good, as did the removing of clothes after about the 13th layer. The trussed turkey effect was definitely reduced!

Other than the fast runs though, we were warm enough. Never even started the heater and feet stayed warm Reel Dick is from Minnesota and came to Oregon via Alaska so he knows about cold.

As far as boberin' it, we didn't. The reason we didn't it the bobberin' boys weren't doing any better than us. We kept close watch. As usual the Sunday fish were present just not especially cooperative!

Note there is no adventure story today. Left Donny at home!!!

Got gas early and often and secured all gear tightly for the ride home!

Nah, I think they were looking on the freeway though! Kinda looked for him (you, Mr. wart  ) but Nickle didn't give me a recon on your hydrounit. If you were out we may have said hello.

I had the black bear and chewybaca in the Willie (Reel Dick and Maxine the wonder dog)

Yep Hog, got me.

Got my jobs done. Line was wet by 2:30. Went 2 for 2. Hiked down a little bit from upper McIver. It was beautiful up there and pretty easy pickens.

Hog, let's book a trip with Nickle Back Guide Service. Sounds like the only way to get your stink off. Not only does he catch fish, but it sounds like he must have recently won the lottery too. He never mentions work like you and I. Nickle, I WANT YOUR FISH MOJO.

Talk to you this week Hog.

Hey Hey Hey!!!

Stink off?????????????????????

I did catch one today. Didn't have to clean it either, which is fine. Freezer has plenty in it still. My biggest disapointment was I had Reel Dick unbutton the nate and let it go at the side of the boat.

It was right as it swam away that I thought about an upside down shot with my new digital camera so we could test the "eyes down (up)" when upside down theory with photo evidence.

Sounds like UG got it tested in Tillamook today anyway!

But 1900 centavos ride does sound a might more inviting than mine this time of year :-)...

Good on ya to pick up another one up there too!

5-Cents,
I was just curious but you didn't say who you booked the trip for as a gift with David Johnson. Too bad they weren't the one landing the nook and in the picture as you have the opportunity to fish that much. I guess that's fishing!
