Default Good Week For The East Fork Lewis?

Today the river was high (about 1,700 cfs) but dropping fast. Tomorrow could be a great day, and the rest of the week could be excellent. A couple of fish taken this morning by the Daybreak Park plunkers, including a gorgeous 10-pound winter hen.

If I had tomorrow off I'd be on the East Fork. :depressed:

I fished the East Fork yesterday (12/1/03) after work. Water conditions were good (about 1,110 cfs, with 3-4 vis.). Should be even better the next few days if we don't get pounded with rain.

I was fishing at the entrance of Lewisville Park ; a little high in the river to get into winter fish yet. I didn't touch anything in the hour that I fished. I threw sandshrimp and spinners. I talked to a guy just downstream from me that had been fishing that section of river for four hours. Nothing. I thought that I'd at least hook into a summer fish or two.

Daybreak is where I plan to be this weekend.

From past experience, these E. Fork ironheads really seem to like a 4" pink work drifted like bait/corkie.

Drifted the lower stretch and hooked one very large chinook. No steelhead for the day and the water was very good.

One would think that this river should start putting out some fish in the days to come. I think I am going to give it a hot later this week. Anyone have any new reports?

Where is the lower river pull out? (Below daybreak.) Is it private?
Thanks.

I would suggest bringing an electric trolling motor, if your floating from Daybreak to La Center. There is a lot of frog water once your past Mason Creek. It is a very long row.

The take out is in La Center. Take the La Center exit off of I-5 and head east. Turn right at Timen road and then the next left which is Pollock. Follow the road to the end and pull out your boat. The ramp gets a bit muddy at times, so 4WD is a good thing. See ya on the river.
