Ifish statistics prove...
Some people actually do fish on the weekends!
During the weekdays, we have around 3500 unique visitors a day, here at ifish, that log on, at least once.
On the weekends, that falls to around 2100!
That means... That aproximately 1400 people actually do get out of their homes and off their computers and FISH! -- or something, but they are gone from their desks!
 I find their strength and "get up and go" amazing!
Seriously, how many people log on to their computers, regardless if they go to ifish.net or not, every day?
How many have tried not to log on for a full weekend?
Wouldn't it be fun to just 'try' not to, and see how you feel?
Totally close the office doors in the evening, do something else, spend time with family, go out to dinner, rent a movie...
and of course, in the daytime.... GO FISHING!
Since I work at home, I find it challenging to know when to quit at night. Often times I am doing billing in between making the salad at dinner time, and stirring the gravy!
--or, reading ifish instead of reading STS!
One of these weekends I'm going to close the office doors all weekend!
We can start a support group, but let's just not make it online!
Jen

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
Jen, If it were not for ifish I would only turn my computer on a couple times a week. But do to your labor of love (ifish) I turn it on a couple times a day. That is every day not just most days.
If I cannot fish I ifish. This site has energized my love for the sport. I enjoy now every day what use to be a weekend fishing trip.
Thank You for all the hours of great fun. I believe this site is great because of you. Stand up and take a bow.

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
ifish is up constantly on my PC at work and i check it throughout the day. my PC at home (all four of them) stay on all the time. the ifish page never closes except for the occasional reboot. i even check the site before i go out fishing . i usually give myself an hour to wake up before i hit the road if it's a planned trip with buddies and that's enough time to pop in, do a quick catch up on the board and check the latest river level. who knows, you might get a hot tip on a technique that someone wrote up at midnight the day before.

A monster has been created!
I have it at home and work, on the laptop when traveling, but right now I am sneaking a check in from my Daughter's computer at her sorority at OSU!
I can quit any time I want, though.
Yeah, right...

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
I have to log on at least twice a day! I start out the day and end the day with ifish. That sounds pretty much like I'm addicted doesn't it? I just never know when someone might have a really great tip on where the fish are biting!

I am on the 'puter several times a day at home and constantly at work. Check ifish several times a day...great site and a place I am proud to be a part of...even if just a new, little part.

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
I too have a home office and trying to stay off the computer on weekends becomes a challenge although I try.
I did have to check out Ifish from my daughter's apartment in Corvallis yesterday!! (Go Beavs!!! YES!!!)
I think though we should all pause and think about our actions (I am including myself so don't go having a backlash on me!) while reading this thread.
We all like to joke(?) about how much time we spend on our 'puters. Ampersat even shared that he keeps four on them on all the time..... next time they have to spill more of our water to make power during "shortages", will we all be pointing fingers at everyone else and firing up all of our computers to talk about everyone else wasting electricity and the harm it does to our fish???? Are we helping ourselves in our efforts to be conservative? Do we really need to spend this much time on the 'puter? Is it really necessary to have four of them going at once??
Food for thought......

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
Ifish, therefore I am!
I check in about every hour at work. Since I don't have connection at home I have to get my fix during the day.
I try to remember to log out, but rarely do.

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
Well Jen, you have gone and done it.. you created 3500 and counting IFISH Junkies. Most of them are sneaking around at work to get a fix. If they go a few days without it, they start to shake. And now, an off line support group.
You could charge a membership fee you know, and vacation in the bahamas. They would pay... you already have them hooked.

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
I too am a working Ifisher, or is that an Ifisher at work? Anyway, I am in Sales so I spend a lot of time on hold waiting for customers, and that is a good time to check the board. Thanks everyone for keeping my "busy" at work!

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
I did it! 2 or 3 weekends in a row! I haven't turned on the computer from Friday after 4pm until returning to work on Monday!
But alas, that's when I SHOULD be logging in - because otherwise I'm supposed to be actually working!

Re: Ifish statistics prove...
OK lads.... and lassies...... let's just all Settle Down!
I admit I'm a junkie for Ifish..... I check it at work when I can, and I check it first thing in the morning, and when I come home.
Jen..... you just have to admit you've created a monster! AND that all monsters aren't BAD monsters......
All who share this site have nothing but respect for you and the mod's efforts..... and if they don't...... oh well........ they don't get it!
Ifish is a Great Site...... and I've learned alot from all of you...... especially the salty dogs and moderators...... but also the newbies.....
it's about fishin'..... and learnin' how, when, and where........
But mostly, it's about learning what a day on the water is about..... the quiet, the feel of a reel on fire, the sheer goodness of being on the water and having a genuine smile on our faces......
Thanks all who have contributed to my knowledge..... and one day....... I hope to be able to add to yours......
Tim

When not fishing... what is the next best thing.. ifish! It puts you in the frame of mind to where you can imagine yourself, with the pole in your hand... fish is ON.. and it is a hawg... it's not spitting the hook either. Oh.. the rush.....
