Default Broken Oar on Clack

Tip of the Oar to ya,
I drifted the Clack a few weeks back and with the rock garden out there I busted the tip of my sawyer oar off. :depressed: So now I'm lookin for new oars I have old Sawyer fiber/woods and love them but have been interested in going with either sawyer or cata's all fiber any pro's or cons for those. I'm concerned with the low water drifts that the plastic tips will bust. Because we all know the lower the Clack the better.
Thanks
Fire

For Cataracts try the River Connection just off of Johnson Creek and 82nd . Judy always takes care of me.

Cheers,

FMS is ok, Gi Joes has some as well. Don't know clacka prices, but most places they are around 150-170 each oar. There are a few online places as well. Try NRS.COM. You'll have to go to the oar and paddle page, that will give you an idea of what to shop for and comparative prices. Good luck.

What size you looking for?I may have a set of 9' cataracts for sale. I also have a set of Sawyer lights I don't use.Not sure on that length tho.....

I spoke with a guy from Advanced composites before I bought my Cataracts. I asked him why I should buy his oars instead of oars from an Oregon based Company ( Sawyer). He told me to look at all the rafting companies web site and too look at the pictures and see what most of those guys are running for oars. Almost every whitewater rafting company uses Cataracts. The guy Also told me they have never had a shaft or blade come back to the company for breakage.

Ive had my Cataracts for 5 years. I think the blade tips are going to outlast the bottom of my boat.

Go with the Cataracts.........

Just curious, but have you looked into having Sawyer rebuild the one you broke? I had an old set of Sawyers that the tips were worn way down, and they rebuilt them to new for way less than a new set would have cost me. Just an idea.

Cataracts are the only way to go. I am never going back to wood.
