I am a new member to ifish and have heard that the way to start out on a good foot is to give a brief story. The best story I can think of is about my first winter steelie this year. So, here goes.
I often find myself going to places where other people are already fishing. Must be something mentally wrong with me because I subconsciously think that these are the only places to catch fish. Not always the case. When I decided to go to the Nestucca a couple weeks ago I was thinking that Jackson's was going to be less crowded than normal. Yeah right. There was at least five guys already there and they probably were not looking for a sixth. Consequently I drove over to Three Rivers at the hatchery (once again seeking out people...lol) and saw about 8 cars parked and even more fisherman. It was a crowded situation but, I decided to fish it anyway. I was trying to teach my buddy how to fish for steelies and at the same time get into my first winter fish of the year. Unfortunately, all I came across was some snagger types that were going after the elusive white sore nook. I can't tell you how many times I saw people setting the hook into the backs or tails of these poor, dying fish. Rather than stay and get frustrated I decided to go down river about a half mile and try my luck at a little riffle with zero other peoples. No more than 15 minutes had passed and I hooked into a bright chrome winter hatchery steelie. Very cool. My friend had a couple of bites with no luck. We both had a much more enjoyable experience and when I stopped by the hatchery before I left, the only fish that were on the bank were so full of white sores I could have poked my finger through the skin and come out with some mighty stinky moisturizer (lol). Moral of the story I guess is that it takes less effort to just move to a different local than it does to stay and fight it out. Thanks for reading my first post. Hope you guys enjoyed. BTW I am an employee at Ollie Damon's and would be more than happy to help you guys out with any reel or rod questions. Provided that it does not become a second job....just kidding  . My name is Ryan and yahooza for ifish .

Welcome, reel guru!
Great story, and I'm really glad I read it, because it reminded me to go pick up my reels today that you just finished working on!
Now let's go get some SPRINGERS!
