Default The One-Armed Flyfishing Lady

Jennie commented in her log on the main page that she would always enjoy fishing no matter what life throws her way. It reminded me of the one-armed flyfishing lady I saw on the Metolius about 15 years ago. She had about a 6" stump for a left arm and she was as expert a flyfisher as I have ever seen. She held the rod in her right hand and pressed the reel handle against the left arm stump if she had to reel. If she had to strip out line for casting, she would slide the rod under the left arm stump and strip out line with her right hand, then resume casting with her right arm. She would hold a fish under the left arm stump while she unhooked it to release it. And she had to unhook a lot of fish.

She was fishing in the big eddy about a quarter mile below the hatchery. She called it "The Idiot Hole" because any idiot can catch fish there. I never have managed to catch a fish there, so I guess I am not an idiot.

Does anyone out there know this amazing one-armed flyfishing woman?
