Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
I remember a few people posting that they had problems with the bills coming off the Storm worts. My question is has anyone been using the the most recent manufactured Storm Worts and is this still a problem ?
Thank You
Fishalot

Fishalot , I'm using the "New" Storm Wart of late.....Violent...reel scream'n take-downs.....no problems yet  I think the Coho are a good test for these new warts....The Brad's wiggler look more like the "Reel" thing but they cost too much fer me
My $2.88 worth

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
Dampainter,
I went through the "get the old wiggle wart fever" earlier this year. Keep watching ebay and you will find what you want, just need some patience and you will get what you need. I have a full box of plugs now, did have to pay more than I would have if I would have bought them before they quit making them but oh well. One other option if ya feel like taking a drive is the Barrier Dam Campground store, they bought tons of the old warts when they heard that Storm was bought out by Rapala. If you can find the plain orange ones a black sharpie or testors fgloss black model paint can make a mean firetiger pattern.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

How can you tell if the WW is old or new?
What are the bennies of having the old, is it more tunable, just stays tuned, you don't like progress ?
Inquiring minds want to know......

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
jeffhead, where is this barrier dam campground?
graybeard...whats your price ? please email me.
gus.... they are not worth a darn specifically the hot and fire tiger patterns in the magnum and wiggle size warts and it is my mission to rid the world of these. if you have a package of these and the label is blue they are the old the new are in a all yellow package. the bills in the new are glued in the old are not , the colors/ markings are different too.

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
Last july I was fishing in the cedar creek area and hooked up with a few steelies on a new brad's wart. I had heard that there was a few chinook still in the river but had not seen any. After my third steelhead on the day (1st hatchery fish) I went back to continue fishing this hole I was at. Second cast i get a HUGE strike the rod throbbed a few times really hard (not a steelhead) and then I hear this CRACK and out of the water flying at warp speed is the bill of the lure still connected to my line minus the body. I don't think they are as durable as the old ones, but I know they catch fish!

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
I talked to the salesperson at Bi-Mart and they said that with the bill glued into the body and with it banging or digging into rocks or something hard will cause it to weaken that point of attachment and then the bill will come off.
I have heard about this from different people.

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
Dampainter,
The BDG is in Salkum. I-5 north, east on Hwy 12, in Salkum (about 10 miles?) there is a sign on the right that says Salmon Hatchery, turn right there, go down about a mile and the store is on the left. While your there for 2 bucks you can buy a raffle ticket for a new sled to support Friends of the Cowlitz (no I am not a member) and then go join the crowd just below the dam for a few hours of peaceful, quiet fishing for late run silvers.
Gus,
Old warts were made by Storm, Rapala bought them out and changed the design of the plug, it is now a 2 piece with the bill glued into the body, the old warts were 1 piece injection molded. I do not know if the new ones run truer or straighter, you could tune the old ones. The biggest difference is they have greatly reduced the popular northwest available color combinations, something about sales quotas and the northwest favorites not selling enough...go figure eh?? I have heard from many different reports that the new ones come apart to easy. The Brads wigglers are made from one of the original molds that Brad Schoenbern (sp?) from Longview bought from Storm before the merger and he is marketing them. He has put them out in the popular color patterns here and added some that I have not seen in a wart. I have a couple, but have not field tested much.
Graeybeard,
I would say that the average price I paid on ebay was between 5 and 8 dollars a plug depending on how lucky I was and how bad I wanted that color. I consider that OK for how well some of them work for me.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
What's the difference between the 'Old' Storm and the 'New' Brad's. Is one necessarily better than the other? What are the favorite colors for Salmon/Steelhead? I notice a lot of talk about the Fire Tiger, is this color good for both fish?
I found 2 dozen of the 'Old' Storm type with the blue label box, I will let out the secret if anyone is interested?!?!?

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
If you get any of the Brad's Divers Beware that there is a leak from the bill into the body. They fill up with water and sink (SeeYa!)
Make sure to seal them with silicone or something like that.
The problem may have been fixed, just take a close look for a gap between the bill and the body.

Re: Storm's Wiggle Worts breaking ? ? ?
FYI had a Wiggle Wart break off from the bill this weekend on a steelhead. Too bad to because that plug had 8 fish to it's name!
Fighting the fish right by the boat and all of a sudden the bill comes flying up in our faces.
Oh well it happens if you know what I mean!
